Why we marched on 9th November

On the 9th of November students from the University of Bristol joined the National Campaign against Cuts and Fees and NUS supported march to defend Higher Education. We marched in opposition to an 80% cut in teaching grant. We are marching against a hike in fees to £9,000. We marched against a cruel slash in EMA which will prevent students from low income backgrounds getting to universities like ours. We marched against the wave of privatisation in the government’s higher education white paper which will turn our education from a public good, to a private commodity. We marched to protect our current students and to ensure those that come after us have the same opportunities that we did.
