UBU Sport & Health is committed to helping you get your club to every sporting event you wish to attend. However this is not always possible. The aim of this guide is to make it as easy as possible to meet your travel needs so please read carefully!
General Guidelines
We expect you to make every effort to transport yourselves at the cheapest possible cost so please utilise your clubs resources.
UBU has a legal obligation to have a trip list for every student excursion. This MUST be filled out every time you leave the university for a sporting purpose. Failure to do so may result in your club being banned from accessing UBU's travel resources. The trip form can be collected from the Union reception.
Please respect the vehicles and the clubs who will be using the vehicles after you by returning them in the best state possible. You must inform us if any damage is done to the vehicle, failure to do so may mean punishment when the incident does come to light. If you have any issue with the vehicle you are given e.g. not full of fuel, dirty car etc you MUST inform UBU: S&H immediately.

UBU currently provides 3 transport options:
Hire of a vehicle through Thrifty
The vehicles which we tend to hire from Thrifty are 5 seat cars or 7 seat cars. To order this vehicle you must fill out the booking form at least 3 days before the day of hire. The driver must be over 21 and have no convictions. The vehicle can either be picked up at Thrifty (near Temple Meads) or a courier can collect you from the Union and take you to the garage. The car needs to be returned at the allocated time, any later an extra days hire will be charged which we will not pay for. The car is given to the driver full of fuel and MUST be returned this way. If applicable the total fuel cost can be claimed back through UBU.
Hire of a 15 seat minibus through HareClive
The 15 seat minibus hire is the cheapest option and is by far the easiest once your club has some qualified drivers. To gain the qualification you must attend a course. To be eligible you must be 21 and have no convictions. To book the minibus you must fill out the booking form at least 3days before the day of hire. The minibus will be available to pick up at the Union at the allocated time. Only the named driver can collect the keys from the porters. The minibus must be re-filled with diesel at the end of the journey and the keys returned immediately to the porters. If applicable the total fuel cost can be claimed back through UBU Sport.
Hire of a bus and driver from external company.
This is the most expensive option and will only be endorsed if the previous options have been exhausted. For larger clubs on long journeys this is sometimes more practical and similarly for those larger teams who play on a Wednesday. To book please see the Sports Administrator with details of trip.
