IAS is one of the UK's leading student forums for debate and discussion of key international, political, security, economic and legal issues. We organise talks, debates and trips abroad, allowing you to interact with some of the most influential people shaping our world today. Our speakers have included Dame Margaret Anstee (former UN Under-Secretary General), Scott Ritter (former UN Weapons Inspector in Iraq), Dr Helen Caldicott (Nobel Prize nominee), Jon Snow (Channel Four presenter) and comedian Rory Bremner. IAS won the Best Society award at the Union Awards in 2007, and with over 500 members, is one of Bristol's largest and most prominent societies.
