RAG Reps
Bristol RAG thrives on its RAG Reps; freshers in halls (and student houses) who put on amazing events throughout the year in the name of charity. Each hall or house has an event team that organises fundraising events be it a Party, Jazz Soiree, Tug-O-War, hot dog eating competition or a fashion show, we want you to help organise ANYTHING for charity in your hall.
We give full training to all reps, and and help them with everything when it comes to the event - overheads, resources, manpower, marketing ... you name it, we help with it. We even provide free socials and club nights for reps.
To become a REP for 2010/11, e-mail Laura and Bex on rag-vicechair@bristol.ac.uk with your name, hall/house, and contact details. At the end of the day, you can do as little or as much as you want - taking a back seat handing out flyers for a small event, or running your own weekend long music festival up in halls - it's your call!![]()
Organise your own event
You don't just have to sit back and enjoy our events, we encourage you to organise your own for the charity of your choice! If you have an idea but don't know where to start, come and visit us and we'll help make your event a success. Previous event collaborations have included the BRA beer festival and RAG fest.
Accreditation
We want you to get maximum value out of the fundraising you do as a RAG volunteer. We therefore offer a number of accreditation schemes, so you can show employers exactly how awesome you all are ...
V-involved
This is a new award which has replaced the old Millennium Volunteers accreditation. It will take the form of a 'getting involved' certificate (one event/one project visit), a 50 hours certificate and a skills/development award.
Community Work Experience Award and the Certificate in Community Volunteering
These awards are specifically aimed at those who want to make the most of their volunteering experience (for example, those taking positions as committee members or hall reps) but anyone can do them.
They include coaching, achieving goals and one-to-one support.
Investing In Volunteers
The University of Bristol Union volunteering has achieved the "Investing in Volunteers" award, meaning that Bristol RAG has even more national recognition from all large employers.
For more information on any of the accreditation schemes contact Rachel Miller at rachel.miller@bristol.ac.uk.
RAG Presentation Evening
As well as nationally recognised accreditation, we also offer other incentives and prizes to our volunteers. The RAG year always ends with our annual award night.
Prizes are awarded to the top 10 collectors, top hall of residence, and to individuals who have made a significant contribution to Bristol RAG over the past year.
Its always a brilliant night and a chance for us all to dress in our best and celebrate our combined awesomeness.![]()
