Vice President Welfare and Equality Sophie Bennett has secured £1000 from the University. The money is for disabled students who require further support in order to participate in extra-curricular activities. Whilst disabled students are entitled to apply for a government grant, known as Disabled Students’ Allowance, this does not cover society or sport activities which are an integral aspect of the student experience.
Sophie will now be working with the Just Ask office and Disability Services in order to implement an effective system through which students can apply for this financial help.
