Following a week of hotly contested elections to join the UBU executive team, polls are now closed and the results are in!

The following Part-time Officers were elected:

• Black Minority Ethnic Officer: Stephanie Soyombo
• Environment Officer: Anvi Mridul
• Ethics Officer: Chryssiana Foroglou
• International Students Officer: Sanjana Narang
• LGBT Officer: Victoria Au
• Widening Participation Officer: Jayam Gupta
• Women’s Officer: Sorcha Berry-Varley

This week also saw elections for a representative of the Postgraduate Taught student body to sit on University Senate.

• Katja Lacey was elected for this position.

These elections saw a welcome increase in participation from last year:

• 136% increase in turnout from individuals (2011/12: 206  2012/13: 486)
• 80% increase in instances of voting (2011/12: 872 2012/13: 1577)

However in less positive news these elections saw a decrease of 1 in the number of elections being voted in as there were no candidates for Disabled Students Officer or Part-Time/Mature Students Officer.
