When you are putting together academic assignments you need to read quickly and efficiently, make useful notes and decide how to use your findings.

 

This workshop will help you to review your reading skills and make them more effective, saving you time and helping you to concentrate your effort where you need it most.

 

You will learn how to be more selective with your reading, how to increase your reading speed and how to read more actively for increased comprehension.

Aims and Objectives

 

This workshop will help you to:

• decide what you really need to read and in what level of detail
• improve your ability to read faster
• show you how to make useful notes and better recall information
• develop your powers of concentration

Further Information

 

If English is not your first language, then you should bring a text you have not read before (academic or other) in your own language to the session. Learning to increase your reading speed is extremely difficult in a second language, so your success in the workshop will be increased if you can bring something in your own language to work on.
