Candidate for the position of Vice President Welfare & Equality

Vote Will Sirl: He's Well Fair

I’m a third year Archaeology student and I am running to be your Vice President Welfare and Equality. Student welfare is paramount because everyone should be able to feel safe and enjoy their time in Bristol.  I want to make the role more visible and make people feel comfortable coming to the union to ask for help.  I am approachable and enthusiastic about improving student life and I want to make sure everyone gets the opportunity to make the most of their time while at university regardless of ethnicity, background, sexuality or gender.  My experience working at Burst Radio has given me the chance to be proactive and work on projects and I can use this skill set in this role.

If elected I will:

  • Increase the awareness of the resources the university can offer students
  • To maintain and encourage equal treatment of all students regardless of disabilities, race, sexuality and beliefs
  • Lobby the University to better support the student counselling service
  • Increase support given to disabled students
  • Continue working to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues
