Candidate for the position of Undergraduate Senate Rep - Science
As many of the great scientists who have studied here before us, we are following in big footsteps. Dr. Alice Roberts once said;
“If I were designing the human eye, I wouldn't have the wires …getting in the way of the light coming in…so you wouldn't have a blind spot. Squids' eyes are the right way round, but ours aren't.”
Strange as it may sound, I believe that we need to view science from the perspective of a squid, so that we don’t have blind spots preventing us from further exploration.
As senate representative, I believe I could unite the sciences together. As current first year representative I have already taken action to improve communication within the department. I would like to take this to Senate and improve all science faculties.
I have received constructive feedback from my fellow chemists; I remain approachable as it allows their opinions to be voiced through me and a warm Welsh welcome awaits! I have done my utmost to highlight and solve important issues. My drama and sign-language experiences have improved my communication skills and boosted my confidence, enabling me to speak out and get the matter sorted.
Together we can all benefit.
