Increase energy efficiency by installing motion sensors on lights in all university buildings so they are only on when needed

Another idea is to use energy

Another idea is to use energy saving lightbulbs with these motion sensors which will save electricity and save money for the university. I think people just need to have common sense and remember to turn lights off when they leave rooms.

Excellent idea. The amount of energy currently being wasted in all the main university buildings should be easy to estimate, and it's likely that the installation of simple motion detector-switch systems will actually produce savings in the long run (as well as good PR for the university on the green front).

A lot of the new systems are having this installed when they are replaced of course this only hold for rooms such as bathrooms etc where they will be useful.
