remove the ban on handing out condoms in the Fresher's Welcome Packs- it's not "offensive" to encourage safe sex

It's not like you can't get

It's not like you can't get them elsewhere.
It does however create a lascivious tone to halls.

in the same freshers packs

in the same freshers packs they include loads of advertisements for bars, and discount alcohol vouchers. It could be argued that that is offensive to muslim students...

And no, there isn't a ban. But at least in my case, I was in Manor hall last year and they removed them from the freshers pack as they are painfully pro-christian (as in it is CU this and CU that).

The number of condoms is

The number of condoms is beside the point- two years ago the UBU were not allowed to put condoms inside the welcome packs in rooms in Halls of Residency in case it offends anyone and had to give them out instead to anyone who wanted them. This year, no such option was offered and condoms were simply not handed out as the University does not in fact support it, even if there isn't an official ban.

The issue should be discussed openly because in previous years it has been brought to the attention of the Student Council and was even supported in an AGM vote but the policy still hasn't changed. If activities such as binge drinking and lap dancing is actively advertised and promoted in student magazines and on campus, then it is ridiculous that safe sex isn't and you will certainly find an increase of students getting tested at the Health Centre as a result!

Who cares whether you get two

Who cares whether you get two free condoms per year? If you have sex regularly it's not going to make much difference, and if you don't, you won't have use for it, or they'll be out of date by the time you do.

There isn't actually a ban on

There isn't actually a ban on condoms in Freshers' Packs. In fact it's Union policy already to try to provide condoms, and the University support this.
