Setting up a new volunteering project

If you are working with a local, national or international charity and would like to get others involved, want to start a student branch of a bigger charity or are interested in starting up a completely new volunteering project in Bristol or beyond, here's what to do:

  • Contact rachel.miller@bristol.ac.uk
  • Have a look at the Volunteering Project Affiliation Guide
  • Fill out the proposal document to outline the project, what you hope to achieve, how many people should be involved, how you plan to recruit volunteers, connections with any relevant charities you have, the aims of the project and how it fills a gap.
  • Meet with Rachel to chat about any support you need: CRB (police check) forms, referees, training needs, contacts with local organisations.
  • After speaking with Rachel, you will be invited to the UBU Volunteering executive comittee meeting where you will chat through the idea with them. They provide support and review the long-term development of volunteering at UBU. They will chat about the project with you and formally approve the proejct to be invorporated within our projects.
