The Society & Media Awards acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding work done by UBU societies and media products throughout the academic year.
The 2013 Society & Media Awards will take place on Monday 17th June at The Station in Bristol: http://www.thestationbristol.org.uk/
Awards categories
Best Society
This award recognises the society that has been the most outstanding in its activities this year.
Best New Society
As above, but must have been affiliated last year (11/12) or this year (12/13). It will be awarded to the society that has shown the most promise and brought something new and exciting to the Bristol scene over the last year.
Best Small Society
As above, but must have less than 100 members. It will be awarded to a society working within the confines of having a smaller membership base and thus a smaller budget, perhaps catering to more niche tastes. This award is to celebrate the fact that there are lots of small societies that do brilliant work that sometimes goes unnoticed by the wider student community.
Best Departmental Society
This award recognises the departmental society that has ensured the greatest benefit and representation for its members.
Best Production
This award is to celebrate the wealth of student drama we have here at Bristol by selecting the best show of the year.
NB. You do not have to be a Performing Arts society to be nominated for this award, but it must be related to a UBU Society (ie. not through the Drama Department or Halls of Residence).
Best Event
This award recognises the outstanding society event of any nature this year.
Best Trip
This award recognises the outstanding society excursion of the year, whether that be to far-flung lands or down the road.
Best News Feature
This award celebrates a piece of outstanding student journalism in the field of news and current affairs. It is open to all forms of media – written, aural, visual – and all societies/media products.
Best Specialist Feature
This award celebrates a piece of outstanding student journalism on a specific topic. This could be a scholarly article or an irreverent radio/TV documentary and again is open to all societies/media products.
Best Show
This award is to recognise the outstanding regular radio or TV show of the year. All categories of show are welcome, from comedy to drama, chat-show or music-focused.
Society & Media Legends (5)
These awards are to recognise those colleagues and friends that are a credit to their society/media product and a brilliant ambassador for UBU. In short, they are legends.
