I started volunteering with SCA two years ago and became PC for Painting and Decorating, Breast Health Awareness and the Big Give last year. I am also a postgraduate rep for my department representing students within the Faculty. I very much enjoy volunteering and look forward to doing more work with SCA this year.

Bettina will be chairing the SCA Executive Committee meetings for the year. She will also represent SCA at Student Council and Bristol Hub Meetings, and liaise with Sabbatical Officers and staff members in the Students' Union. Bettina is your first point of contact on the SCA Executive Committee.

Volunteer Development Officer - Andy Hollingsworth

"Hi, I'm Andy and after finishing a degree in Maths & Philosophy this summer I'll be starting a year as a sabbatical (VP: Education) in the Union next year. I first got involved in SCA through mentoring and schools work and have been a Schools Rep the last couple of years (and would definitely add a plug for schools projects - they're great fun and really good experience)."

Andy will oversee the recruitment and coordination of the SCA training team. If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer Trainer, find our more information here. All volunteers, Project Coordinators and Project Reps need training and Andy is the first point of contact for organising these sessions. He is also responsible for promoting volunteer accreditation schemes (such as V Awards, ODA, Volunteering England Awards and Bristol PLuS).

for the African Caribbean Experience (ACE) society. I will be organising
exciting events to raise as much money as possible for SCA, and look
forward to seeing you there :)

Juliana will work on fundraising events for the year and will also work behind the scenes on funding applications for Project Coordinators. Fundraising events include the very popular bi-annual Speed Dating, SCA Pub Quizzes and charity street collections. Juliana is also the representative for SCA Plus.

If you need money, either as a project coordinator, or as a volunteer with a new idea, Email Juliana at sca-fundraising@bristol.ac.uk

Events Representative - Ronke Fashade

'I am a second year law student. I enjoy organising events after
organising several in secondary school. This is my first position of
responsibility and I'm excited to begin!'

Ronke will lead the events team in organising both the community events (the Kids Christmas Party, Elderly Dinner Dance and the Big Give) and will work with Juliana on the fundraising events. She will lead the Events team in organising SCA Week and promoting SCA through publicity. Click  to see a full list of SCA's events.

Schools Projects Representative - Tom McGuinness

Hi, I'm Tom, I'm a third year studying maths (I'm also vice-president of the maths society, just thought I'd throw that in there cos I didn't think I sounded like a big enough geek). I started volunteering with SCA last year and went into schools every Friday of second term, it was really fun; it's certainly good to go back to Maths I could do. So if you too like lording it over kids the schools project is for you!

Tom will provide the link between the Executive Committee and the Schools Project Coordinators. If you have an issue as a volunteer on one of the schools projects, you can contact Tom and he will raise it with the Executive Committee. Tom is also responsible for feeding back decisions affecting the Schools Projects made at Executive Committee meetings.
