Student Community Action is the largest volunteering organisation at the University of Bristol Students' Union, with over 1,000 members helping out in and around the community. SCA is run by students for students and the great thing about SCA is its flexibility allowing you to choose your level of commitment.

The SCA Bouncy Castle is back in action...

SCA is the proud owner of a fine, very large bouncy castle, which has been sititng unused for over a year. After a bit of TLC, I am pleased to announce the bouncy castle is back in action and ready to be used and abused!

New Project Co-ordinators Needed

Every project in SCA has a Project Coordinator or a Project coordinating team who organises volunteering, plans activities, takes responsibilty for transport and possibly some fundraising, and this new academic year needs new co-ordinators.

TreeAid - Sculptree Festival Volunteers Wanted!

Sculptree 2010 - 12 Sculptors, 12 tree trunks, 12 opportunities to make a difference. Carving starts 23rd August. Sculpture Auction begins 3pm on 30th August, Westonbirt Arboretum, near Bristol. www.sculptree.org

Congratulations oSCAr's Winners!

The oSCAr's award ceremony took place at the students Union on Tuesday evening (8th June); a great night was had by all with plenty of wine and nibbles! The ceremony gave awards to both SCA and non-SCA volunteers in recognition of all the incredibly hard work, time and commitment volunteers give to various volunteering roles. Both individual and project awards were given.

The SCA Exec has handed over...

This weekend, 5th and 6th June, the SCA and RAG Execs went away to deepest, darkest Somerset to undergo gruelling challenges and plan SCA Events for the next academic year.

Student Volunteering Graduate Vacancy

We are now recruiting for a brand new position working in the Students' Union where you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of many aspects of SCA as well as other student volunteering opportunities.

Schools Project Coordinator Recruitment

We are now looking for people to join the team of School volunteering coordinators for next year. This team will work together to ensure everyone interested in gaining experience in schools has a placement. You will make contact with schools, find out what they are looking for and match volunteers with opportunities.

SCA receives £5,500 from Children in Need!!!

SCA has been granted an application to Children in Need for £5,500 towards the Pitstop Project. This is a fantastic achievement that will guarantee the project's future and will help to expand its activities for the next year.

SCA has had its AGM!

The SCA AGM, also known as the Volunteer Conference was held on Tuesday 4th May. The meeting was a chance for the current Executive Committee to report to members on the progress and events of the year. We now also have a newly elected Executive Committee for the next academic year!!!

SCA Plus Funding

SCA Plus is a group of past SCA volunteers who valued their time as a volunteer so much they would like to continue to support the great work that the projects do. Every Term SCA Plus offer small grants to help you set up new project ideas or run new activties within your project.
