A charity hitch-hike to Morocco or Prague in Easter? Sounds amazing, if a little tough! Get involved and join around 1000 British students in an epic journey across Europe, by blagging lifts from cars, lorries and vans.
Meet amazing people, raise money for a great cause, end it with a holiday and have an adventure that will keep you telling stories about it until you’re 90.

We’ll be running information meetings about this event on 20th October at the Union at 8pm and 22nd October at Hiatt Baker Hall in Stoke Bishop at 8pm. More dates to be announced!!
The charity
The Hitch is run by Link Community Development (LCD). This excellent charity raises money to run education programs in a number of African countries. Rather than simply throwing money at the problems facing millions of children, they aim to put in place sustainable systems of ensuring good teaching levels.
The event
The Hitch has been running 18 years and has grown massively recently. Last year the nationwide event saw 1000 students take part and raise over £450,000 for LCD! This year even more universities are involved (18!!) and hopefully even more people will get involved! Participants can set off at any point over the Easter holidays and have a number of safety measures in place for their peace of mind – there has never been a serious incident on the Hitch. It takes an average of 6.5 days to reach Morocco, and 3 to reach Prague. Both are challenging and hugely enjoyable! If you are short of time then maybe a quick trip to Prague is better, although with beer so cheap there it’ll be hard to tear yourself away! For those with more time, a long holiday in Morocco once you get there is fantastic.
The sponsorship
All LCD ask is that you raise £350 for charity. It’s a very small amount! Family and friends will always help out when they hear you are doing such an amazing challenge! We’ll also be running fundraising events around Bristol for you to get involved in and get even more sponsorship.
