  • I am responsible for managing the business/charity and am responsible to the Board of Trustees for ensuring that they have sufficient information and understanding of the issues and options available to them in order to undertake their responsibilities effectively. The role involves setting and monitoring a robust performance framework that ensures that UBU is able to deliver against its mission, vision and values.

  • I joined UBU in August 2009, having joined from NUS, and have been leading the set-up of our membership facing services in Just Ask and Do It. I support the Chief Executive, Trustee's and Sabbatical Officers in leading the delivery of those services and key projects such as Health & Safety, Freshers, Officer Induction/Handover, Student Leadership, AGM and Elections.

  • I am responsible for ensuring that the Union manages its funds in such a way as to provide for a continuous flow of transactions and activity to pursue our charitable objectives. If you want to know if we have complied with our legal requirements or if we are a going concern then I’m the person but if you want to know where your invoice is in the system or what is your club or society balance then you will need to speak to someone else in the accounts team or in the Do It hub. One of my main functions is to report on the amalgamation of all the transactions that are processed for the Union and report to the trustee board (and consequently the membership) that UBU is in a solvent position.

  • I joined UBU in August 2009, from the University. I support UBU's Chief Executive, Trustee's and Officers as the senior manager responsible for the building, the refurbishment, UBU venues, the social and events programme, performance spaces, student facilities and student activities in the building, the food and beverage offer, room hire and conferencing, technical and event management, income diversification and fundraising strategy, and SUEI.

  • I joined UBU in October 2011 though but have been involved in Students' Unions in the past. I was the Student Support Officer Sabbatical for 2 years whilst I was at University. While studying I was also the Bar Supervisor and ran the Freshers Fair and advertising for the Union and ran the entertainment on my campus. My role here at UBU is to support the Senior Management Team and Fulltime Elected Officers and support and manage the Trustee Board of the Union. I help with various projects including the annual Impact Report, SUEI, Strategy, Stakeholder database and Fulltime Elected Officer induction. I also help to co-ordinate the Union as a whole whether that be keeping staff contacts up to date or making sure all documents are in the right place so everyone is use the most up to date and correct copy!

  • I'm based in the Do it Hub - the home of student activities at UBU - along with my hardworking team who are here to help students get the most from their time at Bristol. As Activities & Participation Manager I'm responsible for managing the day to day operations of our sport clubs, societies, volunteering and charity fundraising (RAG).

  • As Community Engagement Coordinator I liaise with charitable and community organisations to develop links between students and the wider Bristol community. I support students interested in setting up new community projects, oversee the funding, health and safety and training for community volunteering and fundraising activities and work with the Community sabbatical officer on community initiatives together with UWE, Safer Bristol, Bristol City Council and the accommodation office.

  • Hi, my name is Kelly and I am the Sports Administrator at UBU. If you have any questions regarding sports clubs or teams then please get in touch and I'll try to answer your questions. I am also the main contact for anything regarding BUCS so if you need to get in touch regarding this then please e-mail, give me a call, or drop into the office any time! I try to get to fixtures on a Wednesday either at Coombe Dingle or over at SEH to support the home teams so may see you there!

  • I am responsible for administrative support for student activities, and in particular societies.I work with the Activities Vice President to provide support and advice to societies, and coordinate transport bookings for societies and non-BUCS sports trips.

  • I am the RAG Coordinator, I am in charge of RAG development at UBU. RAG is Raising And Giving, the fundraising arm of UBU. I manage the executive committee and boss them about :D Each year RAG donates over £100,000 to local, national and international charities.

  • As Student  Volunteering administrator, I'm the first point of contact for anyone interested in volunteering whilst at Bristol. I support students to find an opportunity which suits them, deliver training to new and existing volunteers and administer the registration of our volunteers. We have over 30 student-led volunteering projects at UBU and I support the volunteers in the day to day running of these. I work with the Volunteering Executive Committee to organise one-off volunteering events and also promote opportunities to volunteer through local charities and organisations.

  • My role involves managing the JustAsk service, coordinating the student officer and permanent staff team to ensure breadth, continuity and development of the service. I lead on the forward planning for the service and its promotion. I also work with University staff to develop stronger links in order to maximise the quality and promotion of student advice and representation.

  • I work with the Student Representation & Engagement Coordinator to ensure the voice of postgraduate students is heard and to enhance their involvement with the Students' Union.   • I manage the day to day operations of the Accounts Office to ensure provision of a reliable accurate service to students & staff, good cash management and financial control. I also help ensure compliance with UBSU Financial Regulations and relevant external legal/regulatory requirements, deploying finance-related procedures across UBU as appropriate. I also assist the Head of Finance and Administration with production of Monthly Management Accounts and budget production/ management.

  • I take a lead on processing monies received into any area of UBU cash, cheques, online and electronic payments), ordering/paying out change and float requests. I also deal with electronic payments (for suppliers and student claims), Purchase Ledger, production of cheques (for suppliers and student claims), monthly account reconciliations/ statistics, petty cash claims, expense claims and queries raised with accounts.

  • I take a lead on Sales Ledger (invoices to external and internal parties who owe money to UBU), payment/reconciliation of petty cash claims and processing Sponsorship requests from Clubs/Societies. I also look after all paperwork for new staff (including student staff) and many staff administration aspects e.g. recording holiday and sickness leave. I also deal with expense claims and queries raised with Accounts (giving the benefit of her UBU experience of over 25 years).

  • I was a Modern Apprentice with UBU and now have a full-time position taking a lead on Purchase Ledger (supplier invoices and payments), Club/Society/RAG accounts, production of cheques (for suppliers and student claims) and transfers between accounts. I also deal with queries raised with accounts, change orders, float requests, electronic payments (for suppliers and student claims), petty cash claims and expense claims.

 

Marketing & Communications

  • I work specifically with Just Ask, Do It and the Operations and Development team to help promote their events, programmes and campaigns. I look after UBU website content and social media on a day-to-day basis, coordinate email communication and the marketing of major events such as Welcome Week, Elections and the Summer Ball as well as ongoing projects such as the building refurbishment. I also oversee Student Media and I'm the main contact for any press enquiries. I work closely with BAM Student Marketing, the agency that manages external advertising at the Students' Union.   • I am the behind-the-scenes genius of UBU online: I work on everything from individual page formatting to overall layout and appearance. I am also in charge of the Students' Union graphic design from BAR 100 posters to the annual Impact Report to Freshers T-shirts.

  • As the longest serving member of staff I have various tasks but primarily I take bookings for the activity/meeting rooms here in the UBU from our Clubs, Societies and external clients. This can be in excess of 8000 slots per year so I am kept very busy. If you are looking for a room to hold an event then contact me.

  • I manage all the gig and performance spaces within the Union.

    Provide technical support and information to societies and clubs for there events.

    Facilitate UBU events e.g. Awards nights, AGM, Grad ball Fresher's parties etc, and Project manage our Fresher's Fair. I administer and service the Union Pool equipment hires department.

    Along with Margaret Capener I maintain the up keep of all rooms.

    I also assist external clients on technical requirements and line manage the STA.

  • My name is Nicky. I am the events coodinator for the Union. I manage the gigs at the Anson Rooms as well as organise and run three key Union events over the year - The Freshers Party, Freshers Ball and Graduation event. I also programme and run some smaller events in the Unions bars including our regular comedy Stand Up Bristol. I also assist students/external parties with putting their events on at the Union
