In January 2013 we assessed our impact as an organisation. The report explains how UBU is developing into an organisation that makes a positive contribution to the lives of our students and the wider community.
For example in the last year UBU successfully campaigned for:
- New study space in the Hawthorns
- Abolish hidden course costs (£20,000 saved for Geography students, who did not have to pay for their field trip)
- Reinstate a Pay As You Go option for sports facilities
Some other key statistics include:
- Over 3 million page views and 570,000 visits to the UBU website
- 200 societies with 17,908 members
- 53 sports clubs with 3,368 members
- 769 active members of UBU Volunteering
- 993 participants in the Intramural sports programme
- 897 participants in the UBU Active project
- 1592 members of RAG raised £107,382.98 in 2012
- 152 external volunteering opportunities advertised in 2012
- 1,870 students viewed our online exam survival guide
- 3 new liberation group forums for LGBT, female and BME students
- Created a Student Parent Network which involved weekly coffee mornings
- Provision of activity space for students to spend over 500 hours a week making use of it
- £1,132,030 invested in societies, sports, student media and volunteering
